Attorney Jordan Maurer

Jordan Maurer prosecutes cases for wrongful death, personal injury, and elder abuse. If you’ve been injured and need assistance, please give our office a call. Jordan will answer any questions you have and explain the claims process to you.

Jordan Maurer is a California personal injury and elder abuse attorney and the founder of Maurer Law, headquartered in Auburn, with additional offices in Lincoln, Grass Valley, and Truckee. He represents people and families affected by serious injuries, including those caused by car crashes, dangerous roadways, defective products, and nursing home abuse and neglect. His practice has a particular focus on traumatic brain injuries and spinal injuries.

Jordan focuses on serious injury cases, particularly those where fault is disputed or an insurance company challenges whether an incident caused the client’s injuries. He has extensive experience handling difficult cases, including those other law firms have declined. He has represented clients from their first phone call through trial, and he and his team have obtained multimillion-dollar results in cases involving car crashes, dangerous roadways, defective products, and nursing home abuse and neglect. Under his leadership, Maurer Law has grown into a well-established personal injury and elder abuse practice serving Placer and Nevada counties, with a regular presence throughout the surrounding region, including Sacramento, El Dorado, Yolo, Sutter, Yuba, and San Joaquin counties.

Jordan built Maurer Law around a simple idea: people with serious injuries deserve the same level of legal representation available at the largest firms, without sacrificing the personal attention of a smaller practice. Rather than taking on hundreds of cases, he intentionally keeps the firm’s practice focused on a limited number of serious matters so he and his team can get to know each client, their family, and what the injury has actually changed. Sometimes that means visiting a client at home, spending hours learning about their life before the injury, or giving honest advice even when it isn’t what the client wants to hear. It also means having the experience, resources, and willingness to take a case all the way through trial when an insurance company refuses to be fair.

Jordan grew up in Placer County, graduated from Colfax High School, and eventually returned home to build his practice and raise his family. Today, he lives in the community he serves with his wife and their two children.

Serving the Community

Jordan has been involved in the local legal community since early in his career. From 2015 to 2017, he volunteered with Legal Services of Northern California, providing free legal assistance to people facing housing disputes. He joined the Placer County Bar Association’s board of directors in 2016 and the Placer County Law Library’s board of trustees in 2017, where he served for nearly a decade, including three terms as president.

In 2021, Jordan served as president of the Placer County Bar Association. That same year, following the devastating River Fire, Maurer Law organized free legal service days for families who had lost their homes, many of whom were struggling with insurance claims and denials. In 2023, when the Placer County Law Library faced an unexpected closure, Jordan led the effort to keep its doors open. He believed the library was too important to lose, particularly for people who could not afford an attorney and depended on its resources to navigate the legal system.

Jordan went on to co-found the bar association’s Civil Law Section in 2024. He joined the Placer County Historical Society in 2025, an organization Maurer Law proudly supports as an annual sponsor. And in 2026, combining his appreciation for the local legal community with his love of the mountains, he founded the bar association’s Ski & Snowboard Club.

Jordan’s involvement also extends statewide. He serves on the Executive Committee of the California Lawyers Association’s Law Practice Management and Technology Section, helping attorneys and law firms adapt to changes in the profession, including emerging technologies and artificial intelligence. He also writes a regular column for Plaintiff magazine, sharing his experience building and running a successful plaintiff’s practice outside a major metropolitan area.

Closer to home, Jordan coaches the Adventure Christian High School mock trial team and volunteers on the Games Management Team for Special Olympics Northern California.

Outside of work, Jordan’s faith and family are central to his life. He co-leads a weekly men’s Bible study and participates in a Christian business leaders group. But the commitments he values most are closer to home: having dinner with his family each night and keeping Friday mornings reserved for breakfast with his kids.

Recognition and Background

Jordan has been recognized as a Sacramento Magazine Top Lawyer and a Super Lawyers Rising Star. He holds a 10/10 Avvo rating and a 4.7/5 Martindale-Nolo rating. The firm’s work and community involvement have been featured in Sactown Magazine and the Sacramento Business Journal. While Jordan appreciates professional recognition, what matters most to him is the trust of the people and families his firm represents. Maurer Law has received more than 300 five-star reviews across Google, Yelp, and Avvo, reflecting the relationships the firm has built with its clients.

Before founding Maurer Law, Jordan gained experience at two of California’s largest firms in personal injury and construction litigation, giving him an understanding of how complex cases are developed, defended, and tried. During law school, he worked full-time as a law clerk at a major personal injury firm and volunteered with the Placer County District Attorney’s Office.

Jordan graduated with honors from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, completing his legal education ahead of schedule and passing the California Bar Exam early. He previously earned his bachelor’s degree with honors from California State University, Sacramento, while working full-time waiting tables.
