
Evan Williams has been an attorney advocating for his clients in legal disputes for more than 30 years in both State and Federal Courts in California. Evan has participated in over 500 mediations, settlement conferences, arbitrations, and trials. For many years, Evan has volunteered as a judge pro tem supervising settlement conferences and small claims cases in Sacramento, El Dorado, and Placer Counties. He has been requested by courts to assist in resolving in complex construction and personal injury cases.
Prior to joining Maurer Law, Evan worked for a large Statewide law firm representing homeowner’s associations in complex construction defect cases. In 2000, Evan opened his own office handling complex construction defect and personal injury matters. Evan has litigated hundreds of cases involving a wide array of minor to major personal injuries and wrongful death matters. The accidents have been the result of machinery, heavy equipment, construction, trucks, boats, cars, motorcycles, ATVs, and premises liability matters. He has been a licensed motorcycle rider for over 40 years. And growing up in Humboldt, Evan has decades of experience boating both in ocean and fresh water bodies. He works with accident reconstruction experts who are able to provide effective presentation of evidence to impress the jury or the settlement judge/mediator. Evan has also worked with medical experts from almost every specialty, economists, vocational rehabilitation consultants, and life-care planners. He works together with these experts using a team approach to achieve his client’s goals while using cost-saving methods when available. Evan has gained the respect of opposing counsel for being a strong advocate for his clients while maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity.
Evan has also represented individuals and families in California and other States who sustained paralyzing injuries or wrongful death as a result of safety equipment designed to reduce injuries during an accident. These cases required in-depth knowledge of product design, testing, manufacture, and distribution in the United States and abroad. He worked with top notch experts in the fields of biomechanics, engineering, and Consumer Product Safety guidelines.
With his construction clients, Evan has drafted, recorded, and foreclosed over 300 mechanic’s liens for general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers. He is aware of the strict time limitations and procedures to make sure his clients are compensated for their hard work and valuable materials used to improve the property of others. Evan has also successfully presented claims to surety bond companies who issued payment and performance bonds, and contractor’s bonds. In addition, he has collected judgments for creditors against judgment debtors using skilled negotiation and investigative techniques.
